Space & Time: Memories

 As McLuhan said:

"The past went that-a-way. When faced with a totally new situation, we tend always to attach ourselves to the objects, to the flavor of the most recent past." (74)

"We look at the present through a rear-view mirror." (75)

Humans rely on memory for survival, and I constantly imagine that I can go back in time.

Time cannot be turned back, there is no way.

Memories can lie, but they can't disappear.

In an attempt to find similarities with the future, people will always look back at what's happened in the past, which may make them feel secure. Therefore, on the way to the future, people may "go backward".

"Art, or the graphic translation of a culture, is shaped by the way space is perceived" (McLuhan, 61).

"Time" has ceased, "space" has vanished. (McLuhan, 63)

Time and Space may disappear, but memory will not. Something that happened in the past will influence a person. The past is already happened and is something people can recall at any time, so the future is somehow "controlled by the past."
